The Last of the Mohicans

One of the earliest works of great American literature,The Last of the Mohicans is a thrilling adventure of historical fiction. Set during the French and Indian War (more widely known as the Seven Years’ War), the novel continues the story of Natty “Hawkeye” Bumppo (first introduced in Cooper’s earlier novel The Pioneers) born of white settlers but raised by Native Americans. The adventure begins when Hawkeye, along with his friends and partners Chingachgook and Uncas, rescues the daughters of a British colonel from the villainous Magua. Soon the three frontiersman are tangled up in conflicting alliances and escalating violence, trying to protect their own lives and the lives of innocents.
